It is composed of four members who are appointed by the Company Chemists Association (CCA), whose members include Boots,  Superdrug Well, and the supermarket chains.

Two members are appointed by the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp)

A further six members are elected by independent pharmacy contractors.

A Chief Officer is appointed by the committee.

The LPC is an independent organisation within the NHS which negotiates on behalf of community pharmacy with NHS England, Public Health Durham, Public Health Sunderland and local Clinical Commissioning Groups to ensure that the pharmaceutical service meets local needs.
